A Quick and Thrifty Supper

MasterShoestring has been learning to cook some simple supper dishes so he can help us out on very busy days and also gain some basic cooking skills for when he leaves home.

He made pizza last week and now he knows how to make a tomato sauce used it again in the is quick pasta dish for this week.

Tomato and Bacon Pasta

300g pasta of your choice
1 tin of chopped tomatoes
1 onion
1 clove of garlic
5 rashers of bacon
1tbsp oil
1 tsp mixed herbs
salt and pepper to taste

Put the pasta on to boil with a drop of oil in the water to stop it sticking. In a small pan heat the 1 tbsp of oil and once it is hot add the chopped onion and crushed garlic, stir until the onions are brown and then add the tin of chopped tomatoes, the herbs and salt and pepper. Leave to simmer for 15 minutes and whilst that it is cooking grill the bacon.

Once the sauce is ready crumble the bacon into it and add to the drained pasta. Add fresh chopped herbs to garnish and/or parmesan cheese.

Eat before it gets cold !
