Easy Recipe for Advent

Here is a very easy recipe to try out now and then enjoy with guests during Advent.

3 egg whites
150g brown sugar
125g dark chocolate grated
250g ground almonds

Whisk the egg whites until stiff and stir in the sugar a little at a time. Lightly fold in the grated chocolate and the almonds. Spoon walnut size blobs onto a baking tray lined with baking parchment. It is very important to use baking parchment as otherwise the macaroons will stick. Bake in a pre-heatred oven 150C for 25 minutes. Leave to cool for a bit, but not completely, before lifting off the paper with a a spatula.

Enjoy !

  2. Yes, it's good to have a few gluten free treats this year as the ones in the shops are so expensive !

  3. Tried these yesterday.
They tasted absolutely delicious but didn't look at all like yours.
They huddled in dark brown heats just as I'd spooned them on to the paper.
What size eggs were yours? I used large. I wonder if I need another one.
I folded in as carefully as I could.
Thank you so much for the recipe though. They disappeared in moments! Sue
