It was USAShoestring's birthday earlier this week and he had a lovely day without much expense. On the day the birthday celebrant always gets to choose all the meals. They have a candle and some flowers at their place at the table and all the presents and cards to up wrap after breakfast. So if it is a work or school day, everyone has to get up a bit earlier !
USAShoestring had homemade cinnamon buns and coffee for breakfast, pizza for lunch and steak pudding and all the trimmings for supper. Delicious ! His favourites all day and we also had a chocolate birthday cake and his siblings made chocolate chip cookies for afternoon tea.
he enjoyed watching a football game as entertainment and quite a few relatives telephoned to wish him many happy returns of the day ! He said the best bit was getting a lie-in as his birthday was at the weekend !
Birthday celebrations can be very modest when we put a bit of effort in and spend them with the people we love !
