The soup post was so popular I thought that I would share another favourite meal made in the slow cooker. This one is called Pork and Peas. I used bacon last week to make it extra tasty and you can see the bacon and the onions in the slow cooker above. It was cooking bacon so very cheap. Here's the recipe
1 chopped onion
1tsp ground black pepper
150g yellow split peas (soaked overnight)
1 pint stock (whatever you have)
Put the slow cooker on HIGH and place the pork and the chopped onions straight into the cooker.
Put the soaked split peas and the stock into a pan and bring to the boil and boil for 15 minutes. Then add the peas and the stock to the slow cooker. Cook on LOW for 7-9 hours.
This makes a very tasty thick stew which is delicious served with French bread and salad ! Ideal for these cold, grey days.
